Whereas other tipi hire companies offer a tipi and basic furniture and lighting, we offer a wide variety of decorative props, floral solutions, a full catalogue of rustic and sophisticated furniture, plus we have an in-house stylist to guide you. To make your wedding planning hassle-free, we include floor matting, fairy lights and tent up lighters in every order.
What’s the appeal of a tipi wedding?
It’s challenging to find a venue that delivers everything a couple desires for their big day. There’s usually an element of compromise. Some venues are too remote, or don’t offer the catering options a couple require. Others feel impersonal or lack outside space for photos and sunny weather days.
A wedding with a festival feeling
Clients come to us because they want to hold their reception with nature as a backdrop – whether in their own garden, a national park, a forest, or a farm. Some want us to pitch tipis to create additional outside space at an established wedding venue.
Tipi tents create an intimate vibe under canvas, reminiscent of a festival. While festivals aren’t known for their comfort, our tipis offer comfortable zones for mingling, eating, and dancing. You can furnish the tipis however you wish; perhaps with a long rustic bar, lounge furniture, trestle tables, and even hay bales.

By linking several tipis together, we can create a larger space and furnish it in zones to suit the requirements of every wedding. Our linked tips are waterproof and cosy in winter, and cool and shaded in summer.

We can erect tipis and decorate them in 2-3 hours. Depending on your requirements, we can dismantle the same night or next morning. Installation is fast and hassle-free with our experienced team.
Where can I see one of your tipis?
We hold regular Open Days and have participated at several wedding shows. Get in touch and we’ll invite you to our next Open Day. We can also share videos of the tents in 360-degree view.
Where can tipis be pitched for a wedding reception?
We can pitch our tipis in your own garden, or at venue of your choice. We are also the exclusive tipi contractor to many established wedding venues in the South East. Blue Sky Tipis is an accredited supplier to English Heritage sites.

Is a tipi wedding cheaper than a standard venue?
A tipi wedding is certainly an inexpensive option if you have your own garden, or land. Tipi tent hire starts at £1520* for a single tipi event. This is inclusive of VAT, fairy lights down each pole, up lighters on the internal canvas, and mat flooring throughout. You can seat up to 30 guests comfortably in one tent. Using your own land means that you have complete freedom to cater and serve drinks however you choose – and at your budget.
In comparison, venue hire typically starts at £5,000 in the South East and you may be required to use the venue’s caterer or pay a corkage fee for serving your own alcohol drinks. Having said that, we also pitch tipis at established wedding venues giving you the best of both worlds.
The benefits of using a wedding venue, combined with tipi hire, includes access to accommodation, a commercial kitchen, hospitality staff, indoor toilet facilities, and a car park. By hosting your event in a tipi on their grounds, the venue can hire their ballroom to a different party (saving you £££) while still serving your group and filling hotel rooms. Win-win for the happy couple and the venue.
Can I get married in a tipi tent?
The Marriages and Civil Partnerships: Approved Premises Amendment came into force in April 2022. This amendment states that legal outdoor civil weddings and civil partnership ceremonies can take place anywhere on the grounds of an approved premises. The approved list can be found at gov.uk.
You can’t be legally married at a venue that doesn't hold a licence, such as private gardens, fields, woodlands, beaches, etc. You can, of course, have a wedding blessing or non-legal ceremony outdoors at a non-approved premises, but will need to attend a registry office, or other licenced venue to get legally married.

How many wedding guests can be seated in a tipi?
View our example plans to choose your ideal seating arrangement. We can seat up to 70 in two linked tipis, with a long bar. For smaller weddings, 30 people can comfortably be seated in one tipi. The seals used to link tipis are waterproof and guests can mingle seamlessly between the linked tents.
Is decoration included in your wedding tipi package?
Yes! We include decorative fairly lights on poles and internal tent up lighters with every order. Each couple we work with has unique ideas and requirements. Our team are passionate about getting the details right and planning everything smoothly in advance, so that you don’t have to.
Build your package with memory-making extras
In addition to our lighting package, we can offer floral rings, a chandelier, fire pits, and various wedding props at an extra fee. Get in touch, and we’ll send you our full catalogue.
You don’t have to worry about flooring. We include sturdy woven mat flooring in all packages. Dancefloors are available for an extra fee.
Will you work with my florist and wedding planner?
Absolutely! We work closely with the rest of your event team to ensure your wedding day runs like clockwork. If you are struggling to find the right suppliers, we may also be able to recommend florists, photographers, caterers, and wedding planners in your area.
